Inhibition of DRG-TRPV1 upregulation in myocardial ischemia contributes to exogenous cardioprotection
2020, Journal of Molecular and Cellular CardiologyCitation Excerpt :TRPV1, also known as the capsaicin or the vanilloid receptor (VR1), is a kind of non-selective cation channel that is sensitive to noxious stimuli such as high temperature or low pH, as well as tissue damage and the subsequent inflammation, all of which can cause sympathetic activation in vivo [4]. Previous research has established a vicious cycle between poststenotic coronary vasoconstriction and sympathetic activation resulting in severe myocardial ischemia [5]. Ding et al reported that spinal cord stimulation might modify cardiac ischemic nociceptive signals through inhibition of elevated TRPV1 expression in spinal cord following myocardial ischemia [6].
Ivabradine does not acutely affect open-loop baroreflex static characteristics and spares sympathetic heart rate control in rats
2018, International Journal of CardiologyFatal attraction — A brief pathophysiology of the interaction between atrial fibrillation and myocardial ischemia
2018, International Journal of CardiologyCitation Excerpt :The increased catecholamine concentrations result in alpha-adrenergic coronary vasoconstriction [34,35]. Once acute ischemia is initiated, a positive feed-back between cardiac sympathetic nerve activation, alpha-adrenergic coronary vasoconstriction and myocardial ischemia develops [36]. Apart from acute sympathetic activation, the biosynthesis of catecholamines is increased in chronically fibrillating hearts [37].
