Multivariable regression analysis of risk factors, risk scores and calcium scoring parameters related to the presence of significant coronary artery disease in paroxysmal or first diagnosed AF.
Age, male sex and diabetes were significant risk factors for CAD in first diagnosed or paroxysmal AF. Furthermore, CHA2DS2-VASc -Score and Framingham Risk Score showed a significant association with CAD. PROCAM risk score failed to reach significance. The analysis of calcium scoring revealed calcium mass and mean percentile CAC to be predictive for significant CAD in AF.
AF, atrial fibrillation; CAC, coronary artery calcium; CAD, coronary artery disease; MESA, Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis.
