Proposed valve for life benchmarking standards for TAVI

Valve for life benchmarking standards for TAVI
1Use of sedation with local anaesthesia in ≥95% of cases.
2Use of percutaneous approach in ≥95% of cases.
3Use of trans-femoral access in ≥90% of cases.
4Use of radial artery as second access site in ≥90% of cases.
5Minimalist approach to temporary pacing: pace on the LV wire (no TPW) in ≥90% of cases.
6Avoidance of any additional invasive lines (eg, CVP, arterial lines, urinary catheterisation) wherever possible.
7Standard trans-femoral TAVI list of four or more cases per day.
8Same day admission in ≥50% elective patients.
9Use of level 1 beds only in ≥90% of elective cases.
10Discharge of ≥30% of elective patients within 1 day of procedure.
11Discharge of ≥75% of elective patients within 2 days of procedure.
  • CVP, central venous pressure; LV, left ventricle; TAVI, transcatheter aortic valve implantation; TPW, temporary pacing wire.
