In this report, we describe the successful introduction of a novel Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT) to streamline the care of patients with severe pulmonary embolism (PE). The treatment of patients with massive and submassive PE remains controversial.1 Different specialists bring different experience, technical expertise, and therapeutic recommendations.1, 2 To provide optimal care for complex patients with PE, a team approach is required.     The PERT was designed as a multidisciplinary rapid response team that managed and mobilized resources for patients with suspected life-threatening or complicated PE. The team is composed of specialists in cardiology, intensive care, and respiratory and vascular medicine with an interest in PE assessment and management.12 When a patient presented with a suspected PE, a PERT fellow activated the PERT rapid response system, which initiated a timely online PERT meeting to discuss the case and determine management.
